Who knew practicing math facts could be “wickedly addictive!”? – Donna Boucher, Math Coach’s Corner.

Smart Apps for Kids says: “Mathtopia+ wins an award in my house—the first app I’ve reviewed that has been so addicting to me I couldn’t stop playing long enough to write the review. It’s also being played by all three of my children, in 6th grade, 3rd grade, and kindergarten, and I’ve even heard them fighting over the iPad for more Mathtopia+ time. I can guarantee no one in my house has ever fought over more time with flash cards.”

Schools want it. Teachers want it. Parents want it. And kids love it. “Since I installed Mathtopia+ on the school iPad (mostly used by our oldest girl), I’ve found our 10-year-old ‘sneaking’ time on the iPad and playing it for fun.  Do I mind if she’s hiding somewhere with the iPad answering math fact questions as quickly as possible to develop mastery and fluency?  Ummm, no.” Jennifer at Apps for Homeschooling.

Mathtopia+ and Mathtopia make it fun to memorize math facts using a simple strategy game with a matching component.

Children’s Technology Review awarded Mathtopia+ its 2013 Editor’s Choice Award for Excellence in Design.

PadGadget says “Mathtopia strikes a good balance between drilling math facts and having fun.” It works on all iOS devices.

Easy to play, educational, yet addictive and engaging, Mathtopia builds math fact fluency. Applying research into motivation and brain science, the game provides immediate feedback about whether an answer is right or wrong, discourages random selection, and uses intermittent rewards to keep players playing until they’ve mastered their facts.

Whether you are a senior keeping your brain vibrant, returning to college to retrain, struggling with junior high or high school math, or learning your math facts for the first time, Mathtopia will help you get up to speed. Mathtopia offers addition, subtraction, multiplication and division fact modules. Choose just what you need to improve or develop math fact knowledge.

Teachers and kids love it: “This plays like a highly addictive arcade game! My daughter AND my class are going to love it! Thank you so much because the world of education can always use more awesome, engaging math games!”

Unlike times tables, worksheets, and flashcards, Mathtopia provides instant feedback to ensure users notice and correct mistakes. It also tracks progress toward fluency on the level selection screen.

  • One star = an average per fact speed of 8 seconds
  • Two stars = an average per fact speed of 4 second
  • Three stars= a fluent average per fact of 2 seconds

On a single device you can track the progress of up to three users. For adults and teens, Game Center integration allows you to track achievements and even compete against others.

For those who like instructions, the app comes with an interactive tutorial, but most users can jump right in and learn as they go.
